My Coaching Background

Novice writers come to Sharon with partially finished manuscripts or notebooks spilling over with thoughts and scribbles in the hope that she will help them make it into a book and even get it published. She works with each writer, personally, sometimes for a year or more to help them achieve their goals. No one is ever turned away.

She is a knowledgeable and willing resource for helping each writer either publish traditionally or self-publish,

Post-production, she guides them in promoting their book with targeted marketing strategies.

During the last six years, Sharon’s clients have collectively published more than twenty-five books with her guidance.

Sharon looks at novice writers as storytellers with great potential. Many of them begin with limited writing skills and little confidence, but they have a story to tell—and more often than not, they are the ones who blossom into serious writers.

Writing is a skill that anyone can learn. Storytelling is a gift that belongs to that person alone.

When the Cape Cod Studio was formed, Sharon chose a lighthouse as its logo because lighthouses are a beacon to the world; so are our books.

My writing roots

I started seriously writing fiction and non-fiction later in my life. I had hundreds of rejection letters so I decided to self-publish. In 2007, Amazon launched the Kindle and my writing career took off from there.

My style

My writing style is eclectic, writing in many genres. I encourage my students to explore and write in a genre they are currently comfortable with.

WHAT DO YOU NEED HELP WITH???

Additional Information

Dear Author:

Are you struggling with your manuscript and just can’t seem to finish it?

Have you finished your first draft but sense (or know) that it has problems?

Are your characters acting up? Does your dialogue need work?

An Author Coach may be the solution for you.

Keep in mind not all author coaches can be all things to all writers. Different coaches have expertise in different areas. You and your writings have specific needs

The trick is to find a coach with the skill set you need and a temperament you can work with.

OR, what you may need is a Mini Author Coaching Session

This Mini session could help you decide what will work best for you. It is a small price to pay to find out what your next step is or which direction to follow. It may even give you the answers you have been searching for.

Below are eight topics offered which may give you some clue. Read through them, think about them, and see if something listed is what you need.

The rest is up to you.

A session may be exactly the help you need to start finishing your book.

1. Traditional Publishing vs. Self-Publishing:

Are you conflicted with which is the best for you? As a seasoned self-publisher, I might be a little biased, but some books need to be traditionally published. Let’s figure out which one is best for you and your book.

2. Book Concept/Title/Genre:

a. Which one of your book(s)has the greatest potential?

b. How can you make your existing book more marketable?

c. What’s the best title for your book?

d. What genre(s) does it fit into?

3. First three chapters, your ‘hook’:

Tighten up those important first three chapters of your manuscript and avoid the common mistakes that lead to rejection. Make them work better for your ‘hook’.

4. Author Platform:

Discover a few simple strategies to quickly improve your credibility and influence. (and it isn’t always Facebook.)

5. Myths & Misconceptions:

Every author falls for some of them. Identify misinformation and false beliefs that are sabotaging your success and preventing you from reaching your goals.

6. Should You Try to Get Published?

On a scale of 1 to 10 I’ll tell you what I think, give you concrete reasons why, and recommend next steps.

7. How to Self-Publish Your Book –

I will walk you through each step to get your book published and for sale on Amazon.com. I have helped more than 25 clients publish their books.

8. Turn Your Book into a Business:

Discover how your books become your inventory, you now have a potential retail business and how to leverage your expertise into other streams of income—not just books.

Why Am I Doing This?

I know what it’s like. I have been there and needed someone to hold my hand and walk me through the quagmire of the writing and publishing industry.

Another pair of eyes and someone with an inside view as to what is happening in the book industry is a good friend to have by your side.

We all need help to see things that we can’t see alone or help to implement right strategies. That’s the beauty of working with me as your Author Coach. No more painful guessing, loneliness, and costly mistakes. I’ll help you decide exactly what you should do next during your time with me.

This “Mini Coaching Session is a great low-cost, no-risk way for you to work with me. Plus (if you’re thinking about signing up for one of my longer-term Author Coaching programs) this is a great way for you to get to know me better, before making that bigger commitment.

Some authors can’t afford (at least not yet) my other Author Coaching programs. I know that because some of you have told me! But you still want me as your coach. This is the solution for you.

It’s my way of giving back. This type of Mini Coaching Session isn’t a big money-making strategy (You actually save $53.00). But I’m able to do it because a lot of the people who take advantage of this offer, end up joining one of my more inclusive Author Coaching™ programs.
