Cape Cod Screenwriters Group
The Cape Cod Screenwriters Group begins its 6th year in January of 2012. The group meets every Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and is open to anyone interested in writing in this unique format or who would like to strengthen their dialogue skills. We also love to have actors or folks who like to read to participate.
For five years the group met at the Community Media Center, Whites Path, South Yarmouth but with C3TV’s move to its new location in November 2011 the CCSW Group has had to find new locations to meet.
As of 1.1.2012 the group meets the 1st and 3rd week of the month at the Jonathan Bourne Public Library in Bourne. The meetings on the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month have been hosted by several venues. For information as to where the group meets on a specific week, email loringltd@capecod.net
If you write screenplays or wish to, consider joining us. There is no membership, dues or past experience required. Among the participants each week are novelists, poets, nonfiction writers as well as writers with one or several completed scripts and some folks who have a story that hasn’t found a format yet. A screenplay might just be what your story is looking for.
If you are adapting a book into a script or if you are interested in learning more about how to turn your idea into a screenplay or if you have work already written that needs a fantastically friendly group, educated and experienced in the art of film writing who can critique your script or scripts, then you have found a home.
The CCSW Group is not limited to screenwriters because it has proved helpful to writers of plays and folks looking to sharpen dialogue in works of fiction or nonfiction.
What is our format? Each week, yes, we meet every week for three hours, one or two writers present 10 or 20 pages of their work, which is read by the group and valuable time is spent discussing the script’s strengths and flaws. We are always supportive and never mean spirited.
Among the group participants there are many multi award winning screen writers, folks who have completed their own shorts and television programs and a couple who have ventured into the world of filming their own scripts.
Join us and see if the Cape Cod Screenwriters Group is just what you and your script need. JMLoring
